How to Gift Robux: 3 Ways, What They Cost and the Limits to Set

There are three ways to gift Robux: a Roblox gift card, sending Robux straight to another account, or buying Robux on your kid's account yourself. For most parents the gift card wins, because a $25 card turns into 2,500 Robux at the computer rate and needs no subscription. Sending Robux directly needs a $4.99 a month Roblox Plus subscription and caps at 1,000 Robux a month for most accounts.

TL;DR: Give a dollar gift card and have your kid redeem it in a web browser. Set a monthly spending limit on their account, but know it does not cover gift cards. If you send Robux directly, a kid under 16 needs your approval for every transfer, and a sent transfer cannot be undone.

The 3 ways to gift Robux, side by side

All three work. They differ in what they cost you, which limits apply and whether you can stop a mistake.

Way to gift What it costs you Limits and rules Best for
Roblox gift card (store or digital) The card value. $10 = 1,000 Robux, $25 = 2,500, $50 = 5,250 No subscription. Not stopped by spending limits. No refunds. Birthdays, holidays, gifts from family
Send Robux to another account The Robux, plus Roblox Plus at $4.99 a month 500 Robux a day, 1,000 a month (5,000 and 10,000 with 2-Step Verification). Under 16: parent approves each one. Final. A Plus subscriber gifting a family member
Buy Robux on your kid's account The pack price, $2.99 for the smallest Counts toward the monthly spending limit. Computer and web give up to 25% more than the app. Topping up your own kid's account

Robux amounts are Roblox's US computer prices, the same figures our Robux to USD converter uses.

What a $10, $25 or $50 gift card gets

Where your kid redeems the card changes how many Robux they end up with. A dollar Roblox gift card loads as Roblox Credit, and converting that credit in a web browser gets the computer rate. Roblox says gift cards, web and computer purchases get up to 25% more Robux than buying in the mobile or console app.

Gift card Robux (gift card, computer rate) Same money in the app Weeks of a $10 allowance
$101,0008001 week
$252,5002,1002.5 weeks
$505,2504,5005 weeks

Use the last column when you hand the card over. "This card is two and a half weeks of your allowance" gives a 9-year-old something to picture in a way "2,500 Robux" doesn't. Our allowance calculator gives you a weekly figure to plug in if you don't have one yet.

How to redeem a Roblox gift card

Do the first one together, so your kid sees the balance arrive.

  1. Log into your kid's account in a web browser, not the app.
  2. Go to the redeem page (roblox.com/redeem) and enter the code from the card.
  3. A dollar card shows up as Roblox Credit. Turn it into Robux from the Buy Robux page in the same browser.
  4. Keep the card or the email until the balance shows up, then throw it away.

Some gift cards, including some sold at Amazon and party stores, load Robux instead of credit, and the amount is printed on the card.

How to send Robux to a friend or family member

Sending Robux has more rules than a card. The sender needs Roblox Plus ($4.99 a month since April 30, 2026). The person getting the Robux doesn't need a subscription.

  • Open the other person's profile or the Buy Robux page, enter the amount, review it and select Send.
  • Send up to 500 Robux a day and 1,000 a month, or 5,000 a day and 10,000 a month with 2-Step Verification on and an account in good standing. Roblox says these limits can change.
  • People 16 and up complete an Age Check. Under 16, the account needs a linked parent, and the parent approves every transfer sent or received. Some regions require that approval up to 18.
  • A sent transfer is final. It goes back to the sender only if it is declined, not accepted, or the age steps aren't finished within 7 days.
  • Robux your kid receives this way can be spent on Roblox, and can never be exchanged for real money.

Parent controls to set before the gift

Set these before the Robux land. You need a parent account linked to your kid's account first.

Control The numbers What it doesn't cover
Monthly spending limit You pick the amount. For kids under 13 in most regions. Gift card redemptions, and some consoles (set a limit on the console itself)
Spending notifications Every purchase, or high spend alerts at $100, $250 and $500 in a month No alert when your kid hits the monthly limit
Transfer approval Every Robux transfer sent or received, under 16 Gift cards

Find the first two under Settings, then Parental controls, then Settings you manage, then Spending restrictions. Roblox says spending limits set on Roblox don't apply to purchases through Xbox, so set those on the console.

Set a Robux budget by age

A gift is a good moment to agree on the rules for the next one.

  • Ages 8 to 10: you hold the card and redeem it together. Agree on one thing they want before they spend, so the Robux don't vanish on the first shiny item.
  • Ages 11 and 12: let them redeem it themselves, then look at the transaction list together a week later. Was it worth it?
  • Ages 13 and 14: Roblox offers the monthly spending limit for kids under 13 in most regions, so turn on notifications for every purchase and agree on a monthly Robux amount out of their own allowance.

Scams to warn your kid about

Roblox says there is no such thing as a Robux generator, and it will never ask anyone to send Robux to verify an account. Tell your kid three rules: never type their password into a site that promises Robux, never share a gift card code with someone online, and only accept a transfer from someone they know in real life.

Let your kid see what Robux cost them

If Robux come out of your kid's allowance, Penny Time puts that allowance on their own phone or tablet. They see their balance and a countdown to the next allowance, so "is this card worth two and a half weeks?" becomes their call. When they want cash for a gift card, they send you a cash-out request to approve, and you pay it in cash.
